Right on Jason! I do believe that all of us who have experience acculturation to some degree have found the comfort of demystification in cultural distinctions by recognizing the “similarities”. A simple illustrative experience for me had to do with food. While growing up in Oklahoma one of our stapels was navy beans and cornbread, often with yellow chili peppers on the side. In Mexico it was refried pinto beans with corn tortillas. Same basic models just arranged a bit differently. Supracultural positioning for me is to be able to “rise above” the the uncomfortable “clamoring” that an undue focus on cultural differences can cause.

John,

Thanks. Love the food example. Brings it to life, and down to earth. Everyone can relate to it.
